Texas House Candidate Zack Dunn Sued for More Than $1 Million Over Alleged San Antonio Crash

Zack Dunn, the Democratic nominee challenging Republican State Rep. Marc LaHood in the marquee race in Texas House District 121, was sued earlier this year over a 2024 San Antonio traffic collision that another driver alleges was caused by Dunn’s negligence.

The lawsuit was filed March 6, 2026, in Bexar County’s 45th District Court by San Antonio resident Oscar Steven Reyes. Reyes is seeking damages in excess of $1 million, according to the petition.

The collision allegedly occurred at approximately 6:24 p.m. on July 16, 2024,on NW Interstate 410 in Bexar County.

Allegedly, Reyes was driving a 2018 Ford F-250 westbound in lane three while Dunn was traveling westbound alongside him in lane two in a 2021 Toyota Corolla. Dunn attempted to move into Reyes’s lane “without first ensuring that lane number three was clear.” Dunn allegedly continued the lane change and crashed into the right side of Reyes’s truck.

Reyes alleges that the crash caused him “severe injuries.”

The lawsuit accuses Dunn of negligence and alleges that his actions and omissions “proximately caused both the crash in question and Plaintiff’s damages.”

Among other allegations, Reyes claims Dunn failed to keep a proper lookout, maintain a safe, assured distance, safely apply his brakes, use proper evasive action, control his speed, and safely operate his vehicle. The petition also specifically accuses Dunn of “changing lanes when it was unsafe to do so” and failing to pay attention to traffic and driving conditions.

Reyes claims he has suffered, and is likely to continue suffering, damages including physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, lost earnings, loss of earning capacity, and medical expenses. The lawsuit alleges those damages were caused by Dunn’s negligence.

In Texas Democrats’ quest to retake control of the legislature, House District 121 is a must-win race. Dunn is running as the Democratic nominee against Marc LaHood in the November general election. The San Antonio-area race has drawn attention as a potential Democratic pickup opportunity, with national Democratic groups targeting the district.
