As the Texas Republican Primary election nears, Amy Fennell, who is running to represent Texas House District 60, has been found to be against President Donald Trump and contradicts the very Conservative principles she claims to stand for.
In August, Fennell announced that she will be challenging incumbent Mike Olcott for his seat in the Texas legislature.
HD 60 encompasses all parts of Parker, Palo Pinto, and Stephens Counties.
According to Fennell’s campaign website, she states that she is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, will protect religious freedom, secure the border, and stand strong against woke agendas in schools and government.
Additionally, in her campaign announcement, she states that she will “push for increased state funding for special education programs, will fight to eliminate the state testing requirements, and will call to put education back in the hands of local parents—Austin is done calling the shots for the schools of House District 60. It’s time to restore real educational freedom for our community schools, private schools, and homeschoolers.”
However, in uncovered posts from her X account, Fennell seems to sing a different tune.

In 2024, Fennell shared a post from another person on X, claiming that pro-life laws would punish women who seek healthcare when they have a miscarriage because people won’t be able to tell the difference between an abortion and a miscarriage.
In another post about pro-life laws, Fennell recounts her heartbreaking situation of losing two twin babies in a miscarriage. She stated she had a Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure, which is commonly used in the practice of killing unborn children. In the post, she claims that the D&C procedure is not abortion and “the law needs changing.”

On the issue of securing the border, while Fennell claims she wants to fight to secure it, she also has posted that Gov. Greg Abbott’s use of property tax money shouldn’t be going to “building a dotted line for National security,” but should be used to fund schools and solve the water crisis.

She also shared a post from Sara McGee, a Democrat running for HD 132, who stated that Abbott’s “wasting Texas taxpayers’ money for a political stunt.” In her post, McGee says that the border is a federal issue and that Abbott is “pure evil.”

Fennell also claims that she wants to protect Texans’ Second Amendment right; however, she doesn’t believe that Kamala or Democrats are trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, even though they have been on record as saying so.
In response to a Senate Republicans advertisement, asking for signatures to protect Second Amendment rights, Fennell responded, saying, “For the love of gravy!! Calm down. Nobody’s coming for your effing guns.”

She’s also on record lambasting the conservative organization, Texas Gun Rights, calling them a “bogus gun rights group” and claiming they are deceitful.

Fennell also opposes education vouchers that would help parents who can’t afford private school obtain a better education for their children.
In a series of posts, Fennell has expressed her disdain for parental choice in education. In one post, she reposted a picture saying, “Rare image of Communism working.” The context around the picture was insinuating that school choice would expand government control over education.

She also stated that “there’s nothing conservative about vouchers!”

As well as another post stating, “A state funding private schools, charters, and home school without strings attached is taxation without representation. Can anybody in the class tell me why America declared independence from Britain in 1776?”

In addition to her blatant disagreement with conservative values, she has also shared that she doesn’t like President Trump and actively shared posts that showed she thought former Vice President Kamala Harris was a better choice for the presidency.
In August 2024, Fennell shared an alleged conversation she had with her mom, where Fennell tried to convince her mom that Harris was better equipped to be President. In one of the lines shared, Fennell said, “He’s (Trump) a treasonous felon.”

In another seemingly Pro-Kamala Harris post, she stated, “Be patient and realize that you’ve been plugged into Kamala. She’s brand new to most people. Kamala’s campaign is about bringing America back together. I encourage you to personify that and show grace.”

Fennell also shared anti-Trump posts. In a text from the Trump campaign she posted to X, she said, “I received a text from Trump today, professing his love to me. This is some next level cult s***.”

She also seemingly used Trump’s almost-assassination to mock him, saying, “This latest alleged assassination attempt will help close the gap. I don’t understand how people see ‘strength’ in a man who constantly plays the victim. ‘Poor Trump. Everybody’s out to get him. It’s not fair. Boohoo’ Suck it ip [sic] man!!”

Another post from her shows Fennell seemingly framing the man who attempted to take Trump’s life as a misunderstood kid, saying, “The kid who tried to assassinate Trump wasn’t a radicalized democrat. He was a lonely kid who grew up in a world of rage and fear. And then he was handed a gun. How better to be noticed and remembered than as someone who killed a president?”

Regarding the January 6 rally, Fennell called the rally-goers “cop killers” and “terrorists,” saying that “If this happened 200 yrs [sic] ago, they would’ve been hanged on the spot along with Trump for treason.”

As of now, only two people are in the running for the Republican primary election for HD 60, incumbent Mike Olcott and Fennell.
Olcott has a strong conservative track record, with votes for increasing restrictions on abortion pills, repealing a ban on short-barreled rifles, and supporting school choice.
The Republican primary election will be held on March 3, 2026.
